Preventing Body Odor

Articles 14 Mar 2019

Sweating is a natural process. Excessive sweating can cause body odor for some time for several reasons. But you can do several things to get rid of body odor.

1. Keep yourself clean

Take a shower at least once a day, and you will wash sweat and get rid of some bacteria on your skin. Sweat basically doesn’t smell. But when the bacteria that live on the skin mix with sweat, they multiply quickly and cause enough odor.

2. Use anti-bacterial soap

Washing clean with antibacterial bar soap will help remove some bacteria, which can help avoid odors. Look for the word “antibacterial” in the soap package.

3. Keep your clothes clean

Change clothes as often as possible when you sweat a lot. Clean clothes help maintain body odor. Be sure to change socks, especially if you tend to have foot odor. Use deodorant powder in shoes, change insoles as often as possible, and go barefoot if possible.

4. Arrange your food

What you eat affects your body’s smell. Foods that tend to make you sweat more, such as hot peppers or other spicy foods, can also cause body odor. And the aroma of food such as onions or garlic can be carried away in sweat. Drinks with caffeine or alcohol can also make you sweat more.

Some medical conditions can change how much a person sweats. Other medical conditions can change the way we sweat, change our smell. It is important to see a doctor to identify this condition.
