Every 30th of March, Indonesian film makers celebrate the National Film Day. This date is commemorated as the birth of National Film because it was on March 30, 1950 that the film “Darah & Do’a” or “Long March Siliwangi” was first shot and directed by director, Usmar Ismail. This is the reason why “Darah & Do’a (Blood & Prayer) is a sacred film because it is considered to be the first local film characterized by Indonesia.
In addition, this is the first film that was actually directed by the indigenous Indonesians and also born from a film company owned by indigenous Indonesians. The company is named Perfini (Indonesian National Film Company). Usmar Ismail is also the founder.
Well, if you identify yourself as a movie lover, but you’re reluctant when it comes to watching local films then, who else can appreciate the work of the nation’s children if not the nation itself? Happy National Film Day, Oatlovers! 🙂 #everydayishealthy
